Hamilton County Judge James Yates received a letter of resignation Monday morning from Hamilton County Sheriff Justin Caraway, effective at 8 a.m. Oct. 1.
The resignation clears the way for sheriff-elect Brad Boulton, Hamilton Chief of Police, to transition into the position early. He will take the oath of office Oct. 1.
