Hamilton County’s first and only chief appraiser Doyle Roberts retired last Friday.
The public is invited to celebrate with Roberts at a reception Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Studio on the Square.
Roberts’ career as a tax appraiser came quite by accident. He and Bill Coats had a furniture store in what is now the McMullen-Henkes office building on the corner of Rice and Main streets.
