Wilma Tubbs

Wilma Dean (Mason) Tubbs, 77, passed away Saturday, Nov, 13, 2021.

Celebration of life services were Saturday, Nov. 20, at Riley Funeral Home Chapel.

Wilma was born in Hamilton Jan. 18, 1944, the third daughter of RV and Bertha (Wagner) Mason.

As an infant and toddler, her family lived in Coleman, Sweetwater and Dallas and then Hamilton, where she attended school.

On May 20, 1962, she married George Tubbs Sr. With this marriage came three children, Valerie Laverne (Brown), George William Jr. and Justin Lynn. This union also brought three stepdaughters into her life, Cynthia Ann, Sandra Darlene and Peggy Sue.

Mama, as she was lovingly called by her children, was a housewife and devoted mother. Her kids were her pride and joy, that is until the grand and great-grandkids arrived.

In December 2002, a precious little girl named Patricia Deelyn came into Wilma’s life. She took that baby in, becoming her guardian, and later, adopting her. She poured her heart and soul into loving and raising her until her untimely death in 2019.

In 1985, Wilma became a MeMe to Kimberly Kay, and in 1991, to Brody Lee Brown. In 2006, Thomas Mason, and in 2010, Toby Bart Tubbs was added to the fold. A whole new purpose to life began with the arrival of these kids - how she loved those grandkids.

Along the way, Wilma acquired four bonus children, Amy, Chad, Jeremy and Jessica Mitchell, whom she loved as her own. With her bonus children came her bonus grandchildren, Colby, Zac, Rayna, Nicole, Cody, Sheree, Jacob, Aaron, Mason, Austin and Hannah.

Not long after, the greats started coming, and Wilma was really walking tall with the birth of Blayklee Kay, Jaci Lyn, Sawyer Scott and Asher Baylin. She also added to her bonus greats with Jayden, Malachi, Preston, Charlee, Madalynn, Olivia, Moxan, Aurora, Evalyn and Amon.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patsy Jane Massingill, husband George Tubbs, daughter Patricia, step-daughter Peggy Sue and nephew, Ronnie Wendling.

She is survived by her precious children; son-in-law Ricky Brown; daughter-in-law Angela Tubbs; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; her sister Barbara Wendling; nieces Cindy and Linda, several great-nieces and nephews; and a long list of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
