Virginia enjoyed a full life and treasured her family. She was the youngest of six children and was born at home in Austin on April 2, 1932, to W. R. King and Emma Ada Cravat King.

She attended school in San Angelo and graduated from Buena Vista High School, Imperial. After graduation, she worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Midland. Later, she moved to McCamey and worked for West Texas Utilities.

In the 1970s, after her children were older, Virginia returned to work as a bookkeeper for McCamey Oilman, C. W. Brown.

On June 6, 1953, Virginia married David B. Cole in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and they were married 67 years. Virginia was a devoted Christian, a faithful wife, a loving mother, a dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Rankin Church of Christ, Midkiff Church of Christ and Park Heights Church of Christ. Virginia served in various capacities in the Rankin and Midkiff churches, utilizing her office skills.

After moving to Hamilton in 2003, Virginia served as a volunteer for the Hamilton General Hospital Auxiliary and the Brownwood Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

David and Virginia attended the Pecos River Family Encampment for more than 40 years, introducing their children and grandchildren to Jesus and the promotion of Christian principles. They faithfully attended the encampment for many years until health issues prevented them from going.

Predeceasing her were her parents, W. R. and Emma King; brothers John Morris King, A.C. King, Wilford “Snooks” King and Lawrence King; a sister, Norma Marie King Fortner; and recently her loving husband, David B. Cole.
