Skeet Gardner

Paul Eugene (Skeet) Gardner passed away into eternity on Oct. 1, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Visitation and services were Saturday, Oct. 3, at Park Heights church of Christ in Hamilton, with burial in the Gardner family plot in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton with Barry Christian officiating.

Skeet was born March 20, 1934, in Hamilton County, the second child of Price L. and Rowena Rucker Gardner.

He attended school in Blue Ridge community for eight grades, then graduated from Hamilton High School in 1952.

He married Lloyda Thompson June 1, 1954, in Gatesville.

He worked for the telephone company as a lineman and later as supervisor of the west area construction department from 1952 until his retirement in 1989.

Skeet was baptized in 1967 at West Main Street church of Christ in Gatesville. He served as deacon in the Park Heights church of Christ in Hamilton where he and Lloyda worked with the teenagers while their children were growing up.

Skeet was always happiest when he was hunting, fishing or cooking. He especially loved cooking for a crowd on his old wood burning grill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerald Dean Gardner.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lloyda Gardner; daughter Paula and husband Barry Christian of Carlton; sons Vennie Gardner and wife Tina of China Spring and Darrell Gardner and wife Tami of Carrolton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Shirley and husband Gene Massingill of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers Ronald Gardner and wife Deloris of China Spring and Dale Gardner and wife Sandy of Cedar Hill; sisters inlaw Jean Thompson of Ben Wheeler and Linda Gardner of Bend, Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
