Sherri Gunter

Sherri Lynn Gunter, 66, of Hamilton, passed away suddenly Feb. 2, 2023.

Services were Monday, Feb. 6, at Riley Funeral Home. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Gustine.

Sherri was born Aug. 26, 1956, to James and Sue Lester in Fort Worth. She graduated from Gustine High School in 1974. She loved high school and played many sports but her favorite was being a cheerleader.

A month after high school graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Mark Gunter. Sherri and Mark went on to have three girls, Becky, Chrissy and Missy. Sherri and Mark lived and raised their girls in Gustine. They worked side by side in the dairy and peanut mill together with Pat and Ruby Gunter for many of those years.

In 2017, Sherri retired from Golden Peanut Co. after 19 years. After she retired, she spent all her time going to beloved grandkids’ events. She was known as Nana to everyone, not just her grandkids. She was proud of her girls, but there was nothing she was more proud of than her grandkids. She talked and posted to Facebook nonstop about them all.

She was a loud and proud Gustine Tiger and Hamilton Bulldog. We can’t even try to count the number of games she has cheered at through the years. Sherri also took great pride in her yard. Her favorite season was spring; she loved working in her yard and with her flowers.

Sherri was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Deb and Kelly Adcock of Gustine, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Daviddie Lester of Gustine, sister and brother-in-law Terri and Ben Schmalzried of Granbury and brother and sister-in-law Joe and Elisa Lester of Gustine; daughters and sons-in-law Becky and Chance McKee of Gustine and Chrissy and Cody Lane and Missy and Ryan Marwitz, all of Hamilton; grandchildren Faith and Noah Horn, Austin McKee, Ace Lane, Jaxon Edwards, Laney Lane, Easton Marwitz, Hudson McKee, Myles Marwitz, Greenlee McKee and Pierson Marwitz; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were David Wright, Terry Keeter, Howard Cox, Patrick Blount, Ike Thedford, Luke Thedford, Derek Poe and Brandt Edwards.
