Sharon Perry

Sharon Layne Griffin Perry passed away from cancer on Friday afternoon April 8, 2022, a day after she celebrated her 79th birthday.

Sharon, with her two daughters by her side, “fought the good fight” until God said it was time to come home.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 30, at noon at the First Baptist Church, Hamilton.

Sharon was born to Leonard and Glynndean Griffin on April 7, 1943. She attended and graduated from Birdville High School in Haltom. She married James Harold Perry Sept. 5, 1969.

Sharon earned her BBA and MPA, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Arlington. She was president of the UTA Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Chi.

Sharon started her career as Comptroller for Jimenez Food Products, Inc. then went on to work for Weaver & Tidwell, Tannebaum, Bindler & Co. and Arthur Young & Co., before opening her own practice in Arlington.

Sharon was very active and specialized in mentoring small business entrepreneurs. She served on numerous professional committees, boards of directors and chambers and published several professional articles as well as a video series.

She retired and sold her Arlington CPA practice in 2020, after which she moved to Lake Conroe, Montgomery, to be near her daughters Lori and Amber and grandchildren.

Sharon celebrated her 79th birthday with a party at her home that included her two nephews and their families as well as friends and neighbors. Lori and Amber and her beloved Snickers were with her as she peacefully passed.

Our Mother was multifaceted: Intelligent and studious on one hand and funny and witty on the other. Always making her To Do list and never turning away anyone who needed a helping hand. She was our strength and passes that on to us now.

Sharon is preceded in death by her sister Janis, husband Jim and both parents.

She is survived by her daughter Lori Cross, and her daughters Kenzie and husband Eric Fernandez, Brennan Cross and Riley Cross and son-in-law Allen Cross; her daughter Amber and husband Scotty Savoy, their two sons Spencer and Slaton Savoy; her two nephews Lance Smith and his wife Melissa and Chris Smith and wife Cassie; numerous grandnieces and nephews; a great-grandniece; and numerous cousins.

“Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
