Roger Paul Schwalbe, 71, of Jonesboro, passed away at home June 8, 2019.

Services were held Tuesday, June 11, at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial was in Jonesboro Cemetery.

Mr. Schwalbe was born March 14, 1948, in Wichita Falls, to Paul G. Schwalbe and Inez Gillard Schwalbe.

He grew up in Jonesboro and graduated from Jonesboro High School.

He married Joy Faubion Sept. 7, 1968, at Jonesboro Baptist Church.

He attended Tarleton State University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Education and Science. He taught for a short time before realizing he would rather work outside the classroom.

He continued his career working the family farm with his father and in concrete construction with Charles Lilljedahl and sons.

Some hobbies Roger enjoyed were hunting arrowheads, researching coins and guns, reading books, playing his guitar and hunting. His favorite past time was checking the cows with his dog (sidekick) “Molly”. Roger was a member of Jonesboro Baptist church and served as a deacon almost 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Steve Schwalbe.

Roger is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joy Faubion Schwalbe; daughter Vicki Lee; sons Jeremy Schwalbe and Casey Schwalbe and wife Mona, all of Jonesboro; grandchildren Chelsey Allen and husband Reese, David Lee and wife Lindsey and Jaiden Schwalbe; great-grandchildren Axton Pratt, Abrie Schwalbe and Adley Allen; sister Carol Schwalbe-Mathers; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
