Richard Alvin Young went to be with his Lord on Feb.18, 2019.

He was born Dec.22, 1930, in Baytown. He was raised in Baytown and moved to Highlands when he married.

He was a proud Army Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed telling events of the past, about his childhood and his adventurous life growing up in Baytown. He would share amazing and heartbreaking stories about his buddies and the hardships serving in the Army.

After his time in the Army he worked for over 30 years at the Armco Steel plant.

He loved to write poetry and he enjoyed working with plants and loved his animals very much.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Joy Faye; daughter Sherry and husband Roger Howard of Dayton; grandson Nathan Jr. and family of Tennessee; granddaughter Laura and family of Houston; brother Gary A. Young and wife Joyce of Highlands; and his deeply loved family Lonnie and Julia Selman and family, Linda and Bill Shipman and family and numerous precious nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son Nathan Kyle, his parents Effie Ruth and Alfred L. Young, his brothers Alfred L. Jr., Buck Alton and Kenneth Edward Young, and two sisters, Bertha Bernice Hillhouse and Ruth Darline Pearce.

Boyce Hurley

Boyce H. Hurley, 78, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, in Arlington from complications from treatment for a heart transplant.

He lived in Hamilton from 1953 to 1957 and was a member of the 1959 class. He was the son of Burton and Nadine Hurley. He enjoyed his farm near Pottsville.

His wife Sandra; sons Jason and wife of Meridian, and Ryan and wife of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; and three sisters, LaRuth Hurley Morrow of Richardson and NaBeth Hurley Crenshaw and LuNell Hurley Gribble of Lubbock survive him.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
