Otis Lee Fisher, “Junior” to his family, 80, of Hamilton, passed away Thursday morning, D-Day, June 6, 2019, at Buffalo Creek Assisted Living in Waxahachie.

Services were held Tuesday, June 11, in Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born in Ireland, Texas, July 4, 1938, to Martin Otis Fisher and Martha Floy Fisher of Hamilton.

Otis married his best girl and love of his life, Mary Carolyn Fisher, on his 19th birthday, July 4, 1957, and celebrated 59 years of marriage until her death Feb. 27, 2016. This year they will celebrate their 62nd anniversary together in Heaven with their Lord Jesus Christ.

Together they raised three children, Clay, Rebecca and Donna.

He loved family and was an amazing father and husband. Each year he took the whole family on vacation, mostly to Colorado, to get away from the summer heat. He loved taking them away from phones, friends and TVs to not only allow time together, but have time in nature. Oftentimes, he would take the family up in the mountains in a pop-up trailer and camp close to a stream and enjoy the time of talking (or in his case listening) and being out in nature. He may have been a very quiet man, but he loved hearing everyone else talk. On occasion, you could even catch a glimpse of a smile or hear a joke told with his very dry sense of humor. He commanded respect without saying much at all and was wise, in so many aspects, beyond his years.

Otis was preceded in death by his loving wife Carolyn; his parents Martin Otis and Martha Floy Fisher; his sister Vondal Hoot; brother Kenneth Fisher; infant brother Jimmy Martin Fisher; and three grandsons, Jeremy Fisher, Trenton Fisher and Danny Grogan.

Survivors include his children, Clay Fisher and wife Connie, Rebecca Grogan and husband Ray and Donna Fisher, all of Waxahachie; grandchildren Krystal Keller and husband Eric, Jennifer Thompson and husband Eric, Melissa Doss and husband Brian, Trevor Fisher and wife Cameron, Brittany Grogan and Tori Fisher; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Bonnie Gail Oaks and husband Robert of Oklahoma, Patsy Polley and husband Charles of Cody, Wyoming, and Billy Ray Fisher and wife Bonnie of Jonesboro; brother-in-law H.L. Hoot of Rocket; sister-in-law Betty Fisher of Hamilton and numerous nieces and nephews.
