Maurice Parrish Gibbs, 89, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021.

A graveside service for Maurice was held in Live Oak Cemetery in Hamilton Sept. 7 with Robert Lynn Parrish officiating.

Maurice was born in Hamilton County on April 21, 1932, to George and Bivian Parrish. She became a Christian at age 10 and was baptized in the Cow House Creek.

She graduated from the School of Cosmetology in Fort Worth and worked as a hairdresser for Vernon Isbell. In 1950, she moved to Wichita Falls and worked as a hairdresser where she met and married Tom Gibbs in 1952.

She was a devoted wife, business partner, homemaker, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She worked closely with Tom in the oil field business, feed store/mill operations and in the horse business at their Mesquite Creek Farm in Wichita Falls and Dogwood Trail Farm in College Station.

Maurice became a licensed Realtor in Wichita Falls, and when they moved to College Station in 1980, she worked for Brazosland Realty. In 1985, she formed Maurice Gibbs Realty and specialized in country properties. In 1997, she retired after 22 years in real estate management and sales.

Actively involved in church, Maurice was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Cornerstone Sunday School class in College Station. Her deep faith allowed her to witness to others and to provide a strong foundation of Christian values to family and friends. Her favorite hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “Near to the Heart of God” and “Amazing Grace.”

Maurice is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Tom Gibbs; son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Colette Gibbs; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Doug Householder; two grandchildren, Dustie Kay Householder and Tyler Parrish Gibbs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bivian Parrish; sister, Sarah Jo Woolner; and brother, G.W. Parrish.

Pallbearers were Greg Gibbs, Pete Gibbs, Doug Householder, Stephen Powell, John Powell and Johhny Frank Woolner, all relatives of the family.
