Mae Roberts

Ila Mae Roberts of Hamilton passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021.

Services were held on Saturday, June 19, at Victory Christian Fellowship with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mae was born Dec. 24, 1938, in Rising Star to Earl and Zelma (Starritt) Baker.

She met the love of her life, Raymond L Roberts Sr., and they married on May 26, 1956, in Peacock. They moved to Hamilton in 1964, where they spent 65 years making wonderful memories together. Mae and Raymond welcomed four children LaNell, R.L., Roy and Janet.

She was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship in Hamilton. During her earlier years she sewed for the public from her home on Standifer Street. Later she would proudly work as a nurse’s aide at multiple nursing homes and then at Hamilton General Hospital, where she retired.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; grandsons Phillip B. Hall and Preston R. Martin; brothers J.C. Baker, Melvin Baker and LeRoy Baker (Betty Baker); and sisters JoAnn King and Patsy Day.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond L. Roberts Sr., daughters LaNell Hall and Janet Martin and husband David, all of Hamilton; sons R.L Roberts and wife Debbie of Hamilton and Roy Roberts and wife Carolyn of Grandview; sisters Louise Cornejo and Iva Jay Roberts; grandchildren Misty and Shea, Jamie and Ashley, Jennifer and Charles, Renee, Kara and Danny, Brandi, Clayton and Micala, Matthew, Michael and Chanelle, Travis and Shelby and Abigail and Chance; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Travis Beadle, Jamie Fry, Ty Buster, Clayton Roberts, Blake Mizell, Matthew Cain and Michael Roberts.
