Loyd and Marjorie Hutson

Loyd and Marjorie Hudson were together for so long that one was hardly ever mentioned without the other.

Born in Waco on Dec. 16, 1934, Marjorie was the third child and only daughter of Arie Mae Hardman Morton and Bruce Randall Morton. She grew up in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John and Bruce Jr.

Loyd Douglas Hutson Sr. was born in Saint Jo to Minnie Verola Hutson and Richard Pink Hutson on Jan. 26, 1936. He grew up in the Illinois Bend area and was the only high school graduate of Capps Corner High School. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Mary Rogers and Betty Ann Holloway.

Loyd and Marj met at a football game in the fall of 1953 while attending Tarleton State University. They were married in Hamilton May 29, 1954.

Loyd joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later transferred to a civilian position with the U.S. Missile Command. In 1969, he took a lateral transfer to the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement. His career required that the family move frequently. They traveled through every state and had homes in at least 10 of them.

When Loyd retired, they settled in Valley View.

Marjorie passed Nov. 27, 2021, and was quickly followed by Loyd Dec. 2, 2021.

They will be greatly missed. They leave behind their six children, Harold, Loyd Jr., Dawn, Judith, Kathryn and Judy Gorman. They lived full and blessed lives fille with many wonderful memories. They leave behind 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Their oldest grandchild, Harold Lee Hutson Jr., was waiting for them in heaven.

Graveside services were Friday, Dec. 10, in Coker Cemetery in Bulcher.
