Linda Moore

Linda Ann Pickett Moore passed away Dec. 25, 2022 in Hamilton.

Linda was born on Feb. 3, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Sergeant James Clemis “Jim” Pickett and Betty Jane Little. As an Army brat, she grew up living on numerous military bases until her father was finally stationed at Fort Bliss Army Base in El Paso.

During her high school days, at Bel-Air she participated in many different school activities including playing in the marching band, playing the bagpipes. Several of her loves were art and horses, for Camp Mary White Girl’s School in Mayhill, NM, where her nickname was “Skeeter”. She participated in a National Art Contest and won, receiving an art scholarship.

After high school, she went to college at Sul Ross State University in Alpine in Pre-Veterinarian Studies. She soon changed her major to Art Education.

In January of 1966 she met the love of her life William Evan Moore. They were married on May, 21 1966 at the First Baptist Church of Balmorhea. They started their life together in Lubbock and lived there until a tornado destroyed their home in May, 1967, forcing them to move to Dallas. The couple resided in VanHorn, Odessa, Laredo, Presidio, Shiner, Palestine, Arlington, Philadelphia, PA, Dublin, Stephenville, Comanche and the last 15 years in Hamilton.

Linda is survived by her husband Evan, two children, both born in Odessa, Erin Lynn Craig, Feb. 4, 1969 and William James ”Bill” Moore, Aug. 31, 1972; a grandson Darby Evan Craig, 18 and a granddaughter Shelbi Paige Moore, 15. This does not include the many “adopted” kids that came and went through her kids’ lives. She enjoyed the many people that came through the nursing home that took care of her and actually took the time to get to know her.

A memorial will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Riley Funeral Home.
