Les Ethetton

Les Ethetton, 74, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020. Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon.

Mr. Ethetton was born May 14, 1945, in Fort Worth to Oliver and Ella Mae “Sadie” (Walker) Ethetton. He married Betty Barrett in 1966 in Rising Star.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Range Management from Texas A&M University in College Station and then worked for the ASCS office for 15 years.

They moved to Hamilton in 1982, where he managed the Riverside Ranch, followed by the Cook Canyon Ranch in Eastland County. Upon retirement, they moved to Canyon where he managed the Bella Vista Ranch in Hedley.

Les had a strong Christian faith and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon. He was also a member of the Gideons and a longtime member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. He dearly loved the land and everything about it, particularly birds and grasses. He especially enjoyed lunches with his friends at Hedley Senior Citizens.

Les was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty; two daughters, Angie Boyles and husband Snuffy of Canyon and Kim Horne and husband Lanham of Coleman; and four grandchildren, Sadie and Sterling Boyles and Jackie and Haisten Horne.
