Leroy Hohertz

Leroy Hohertz, 77, of Clifton, passed away sur-rounded by his loving family in a Fort Worth hospital on Oct. 28, 2020.

Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at First Baptist Church in Clifton with Rev. Brian Barrett offciating, and burial to follow in the Evans Cemetery near Clifton with full military honors performed by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Clifton VFW, Post 8553.

Visitation will be held at the church from 10 A.M. until service time.

Leroy was born April 16, 1943, in Hamilton to Henry Herman and Annie Lee Cody Hohertz. At the age of 18, he joined the United States Army. He went to artillery school at Fort Carson in Colorado.

Upon graduation, Leroy was sent to Korea where he served two tours as a member of the Artillery Battery Company consisting of 125 men.

Following his tour in Korea, he was stationed in Germany. When his tour was completed in Germany he received his orders to go to Vietnam and served two tours assigned to Artillery Hill, an artillery fire base located in Central Highland. While in Vietnam he did a short stint in Cambodia. When Leroy left Vietnam he was stationed stateside where he remained another nine years.

Leroy retired out of the United States Army after 20 years of service to his county. He will be truly missed by all.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his wife of 40 years, Sheila Hohertz of Clifton; son Richard Snyder and wife Julia; daughters Annie Renee Hohertz, Crystal Leann Ratliff and husband Douglas and Elizabeth Susanne Bosse; grandchildren Bradley, Cody, Jamie, Katie and Kyle Snyder, Zachary Hohertz, Sophia Johnson, Eden Anderson, Gabriel, Alisa, and Liberty Martinez, Jacob Humphries, Jackson Prescott and Braedon Bosse; sister Erma May Boyd Hohertz; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Herman and Annie Lee Cody Hohertz; and sister, Maggie Emma Hohertz.

Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons, Bradley Snyder, Cody Snyder, Kyle Snyder, Zachary Hohertz, Gabriel Martinez and Jacob Humphries.

Arrangements were made by Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian.
