Joyce Benzenhoefer

On Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, Joyce Ann Benzenhoefer, 80, passed away at a hospice care facility in Temple.

A memorial service is being planned for October.

Joyce was born Jan. 5, 1941, in Hannibal, Missouri, and graduated from Ilasco, Missouri, High School in 1958.

On June 29, 2000, she married David Benzenhoefer and blended their families beautifully. She and David moved to Cranfills Gap and she became very involved with the city. She served as mayor 2010-2012 and city secretary 2015-2021. She organized fun events and worked tirelessly to make sure everyone had a great time. She showed the love of Christ in all that she did.

She genuinely cared about everyone and would go out of her way to make people feel welcome and special. She loved crafting, and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren became her crafting buddies. It was always a treat to bump into her in her little red golf cart or at the city office and catch up on everything from city happenings, growing families, someone in need or her latest project. She was as honest as the day is long, an amazing lady, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and she will be missed.

She is survived by David, her husband of 21 years; children Denny of Hannibal and Dan of Fayetville Georgia; grandchildren Lacey, Hunter, Ethan and Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Naomi and Natalie; two step daughters; seven Benzenhoefer grandchildren; and 17 Benzenhoefer great-grandchildren.
