Jake Hopper

On Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, Jason (Jake) Hopper, loving husband and beloved father, passed away at the age of 52.

Memorial services will be held Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. in Indian Gap Cemetery.

Jake was born Dec. 31, 1969, in Stephenville to David and Kay Hopper.

Jake was a member of the Texas Groundwater Association, a licensed water well driller and pump installer servicing multiple states, his community and surrounding areas. Jake passed down over three decades of water well knowledge and experiences to his son River Hopper and cousin Montana Mize. His “baby girl” Summer Hopper could often be found behind a drilling rig to support what he loved, work and family. Having family on a job site, working together, made him beam with pride.

Jake enjoyed operating heavy equipment working the land, planting and harvesting, gardening with his wife, ice cold beer, big bowl of ice cream and bullshitting with friends and family. He wasn’t often found without his two beloved four-legged friends, Bear and Minnie. Jake was known for his quick-witted humor, determination, hardworking qualities, his generosity, a humble genuine man.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dakota Hopper.

Jake is survived by his parents, David and Kay Hopper of Indian Gap; wife Barbara, children Summer Hopper and River Hopper, all of Hamilton; sister Kandice Horton of Clyde; brother Dustin Hopper of Abilene; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
