Harry Hansen, 85, of Hamilton and Granbury, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018.

A memorial service was held Friday, Nov. 16, at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury.

Harry was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Fort Worth to Melvin and Lorene Hansen. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy reserves. He spent 40 years as an airline pilot for Continental Airlines – he began his career flying the DC-3 and retired as a captain in 1993 flying the DC-10.

His passion was for antique aviation; he regularly used his aircraft mechanic license to take airplanes apart and put them back together. He ran the Hamilton Municipal Airport for 25 years, where he was a flight instructor and took many people for their first airplane rides.

Harry enjoyed ranching and was on the board of directors for the Fort Worth Stock Show and became the Honorary Vice President. He was on the School Board for Hamilton ISD and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hamilton

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jackie Hansen; children, JoAnn Hansen and Steven Bates, Ronnie Hansen and wife Crystal and Mike Hansen and wife Amanda; and grandchildren, Alexis Hansen, Morgan Hansen and Conrad Hansen.
