Gregory Paul Pylant was a quiet man with a big heart. He passed away in his home in Evant Feb. 6, 2022, at age 59.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, in the Democrat Cemetery on FM 218.

He was born in Dyess AFB Hospital, Abilene, on Nov. 9, 1962, where his father was serving in the Army.

Greg graduated from L. D. Bell High School, Hurst, and went into the US Marine Corps, where he served in Georgia as a Military Policeman after completing basic training in San Diego.

He drove long-haul trucks for Schneider for several years and then worked as a ranch foreman at Bailey Creek Ranch out of Evant. He was good at fixing vehicles, ranch equipment, household problems and figuring out solutions for just about any situation.

Greg enjoyed hunting, making his own beef jerky (Evant’s Best) and cooking venison and pork. He was interested in history, especially ancient mysteries, and read ing non-fiction.

In his younger years, he rode motorcycles and wove horse blankets.

When his grandmother was living, the family depended on him to transport her for family gatherings. He loved to spend time with her and listen to her talk about family history.

He was preceded in death by two uncles and his grandparents.

He is survived by his parents, Thurman and Wanda Pylant of Priddy; his brother Todd and wife Kelli of Benbrook and their children Bailey Pylant, Cade and wife Alyssa Pylant and Ainsley Pylant; three aunts and an uncle and cousins and their families.
