Freddie Elroy “Fred” Gromatzky, 86, passed away June 25, 2022, in Arlington.

Fred was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Hamilton to Fredrick Wilhelm Gromatzky and Alice Margaret Sibert Gromatzky.

He had a great work ethic and enjoyed his job as an Arlington police officer. He stopped working at the age of 86 and volunteered with Citizens on Patrol.

Fred’s love of music began in high school, singing in a quartet. He loved country music and to sing and dance. He enjoyed attending rodeos.

Fred was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He was an avid Texas Rangers Baseball Club fan. Fred enjoyed cooking and made a great batch of pinto beans.

He dearly loved his family and his dog, Buddy. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Bradley.

Survivors include his wife, Claudria Florene Black Gromatzky; sons Rodney Gromatzky and wife Judy and Greg Gromatzky; daughter Tracy Gromatzky; stepson Brady Bryan and wife Carol; brothers Gary Gromatzky and wife Dixie and Rick Gromatzky and wife Sarah; sister Mavis Elrod; grandchildren Amanda, Zachary, Jacoby, Cathy and Tralyn; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
