Ernest Duane Cantrell passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on June 30, 2024.

Services were Thursday, July 4, at Riley Funeral Home. Interment was in Gentry’s Mill Cemetery. A meal was served at the Bottlinger Barn afterward.

Duane lived in Hamilton his entire life. He worked as a welder and diesel mechanic for many years. He was employed at Bottlinger Grain for 15 years, up until his death. Bottlinger Grain and all the people who worked there were his second family.

He enjoyed spending time with his teenage daughter Jorja and loved to go fishing and camping with his sons Bryson and Dominique, brother Lance and nephew Lane. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and loved to BBQ and hangout with his friends and family as much as he could.

Duane was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was a devoted Christian, dad, brother and uncle.

Duane was preceded in death by his mother Carolyn Louise Hagan, father Ernest Paul Cantrell, uncles Raymond Cantrell and Charles Stifflemire, aunts Pansy Cantrell and Ruth Stifflemire, cousin Charla Stifflemire and grandparents Ernest Edmund Paul Cantrell and Nellie Loraine Cantrell, Vivian Hagan and William Hagan.

Duane leaves behind his beautiful daughter Jorja Cantrell of Hamilton and Crys-tal Ashley of Houston; sons Bryson Jones and Dominique Grant, both of Granbury; exwife Lisa Jones, who loved him dearly; siblings Tonya Cantrell and fiancé’ Shane Blanchard of Gatesville, Sherry Musick of Palestine, Misty Cantrell of Brady, Amber Bradley of Chapel Hill and brother Lance Cantrell and fiancé’ Jessica Lloyd of Pottsville; nieces Teressa Deleon, Angellia Deleon, Mariah Pruitt and Bridgette Shanahan; nephews Beau Ballard, Lane Cantrell, Devin Riedemann and Bobby Reidemann; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

A heartfelt thank you to Lisa Jones for always being there for Duane when he needed her till the very end.

Honoring his memory, the following individuals served as pallbearers, Lance Cantrell, Lane Cantrell, Beau Ballard, Bryson Jones, Gerald Short and Robert Hester. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Bottlinger and Dominique Grant.
