Dorothy (Dot) Jean Little Wilcox, 84, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, with her family by her side at Hamilton Health Care Center in Hamilton.

A memorial service will be held Dec. 22 at Riley Funeral Home at 2 p.m.

Dot was born to the late Omer M. Little and Blanche Thompson Little on Sept. 15, 1934.

She spent her early days in Littleville along with her five sisters, brother and niece. She was a member of the Littleville Baptist Church where she played piano in her youth. She attended school in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1953.

After high school she began a career with the phone company in Hamilton where she worked as an operator. Dot married Charles Bailey Wilcox in 1956 at Littleville Baptist Church. She continued to work at the phone company as an operator as the couple moved for Charles’s coaching career and when he was drafted into the US Army.

Over the years, the couple resided in Denton, Pecos, Pacific Grove, California, Olympia, Washington, Burkburnett, Killeen and Belton before moving to Tucumcari, New Mexico, in 1977. Dot and her family lived there for 16 years before returning to Hamilton upon retirement.

Dot and Charles then spent 15 years in Ruidoso, New Mexico, to be close to their grandchildren. In 2016, they returned to Hamilton.

Dot dedicated her life to her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories, admiration and appreciation. She continually instilled in her family the importance of treating others well and putting their needs first. Dot loved to provide wonderful meals and good times to all who came to visit. She was a friend and neighbor to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Dot enjoyed cooking, reading, studying genealogy, camping and collectibles and antiques.

She was preceded in death by her sisters and brother, Pauline Meher, Martine Hoard, Emily Pipes, Allen Little, Joyce Reinert and Tookie Reinert.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Bailey Wilcox; three sons, Jason Wilcox of Hamilton, Russell Wilcox and his wife Judy of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Zachary Wilcox of Cookeville, Tennessee; niece Shirley Freeman, daughter of oldest sister Pauline; two grandchildren, Caden and Landri Wilcox of Cookeville; and many other nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Hamilton Public Library in lieu of flowers.
