Donna Meholin

Donna Jean Meholin, 93, of Dallas, formerly of Hamilton, passed away Sept. 26, 2020.

A private family graveside service was held in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Meholin was born Aug. 11, 1927, to James Roy McCarty and Lucy Lee Bouie in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Donna graduated from Tyler High School in 1946. She attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton and graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University, Waco, in 1965.

She married Jack Meholin on Feb. 22, 1948, in Tyler.

She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Hamilton and was very involved with the United Methodist Women, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Meals on Wheels, Girl Scouts, many libraries, and other Methodist church education and charity organizations.

One of Donna’s greatest joys was reading to the blind and terminally ill.

She is survived by her daughters, Jill Rogers and husband Dave of Dallas, Mindy Merrell and husband Gene of Fort Worth and Jan Gummelt and husband Morgan of Eden, Utah; grandchildren Grant Gummelt, Holin Gummelt Wilbanks, Blake Gummelt, Steven Robbins, Greg Robbins, Molly Robbins Nofire, Lindsey Rogers Ross, Shelly Rogers Eckenrode and Ross Rogers; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Meholin; and brothers John McCarty and Jim McCarty.
