Clifford Babbitt

Thomas Clifford Babbitt, 76, of De Leon passed away Aug. 30, 2018, with his loving family by his side.

Graveside services were held Sunday in De Leon Cemetery with Bro. Kenneth Wilson officiating.

Mr. Babbitt was born Aug. 1, 1942, in Hamilton to Jim Babbitt and Emmie Bell Donohue Babbitt. He married Charlene Kinsey Aug. 21, 1965, in Evant.

He lived in De Leon for more than 50 years. He owned Cliff’s Paint and Body in De Leon for many years and also worked for Bayer Motor Co. for nearly 15 years.

He enjoyed many hobbies, but his favorites were racing and working on cars. He was a volunteer firefighter for De Leon Volunteer Fire Department for many years and enjoyed the lasting friendships he made while serving De Leon and surrounding communities.

He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and true friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Emmie Babbitt; sister Lora Martin; and brothers William Babbitt and J.H. Babbitt.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53, Charlene Babbitt; sons Timmy Babbitt and spouse Linda, Brian Babbitt and partner Renato and Brent Babbitt and spouse Lilia; daughter Renee Gibby and husband Timmy; grandchildren Brittney Preston and spouse Parker, Chad Gibby and spouse Brandi, Tiffany Gibby, Gaven Babbitt and Alex Babbitt; great-grandchildren Berkleigh, Beckham, Asher and Kayson; sisters Imogene Pope, Dorothy Livingston and Cora Lee Marwitz; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
