Richard Carlton “Cart” Jones died peacefully Aug. 19, 2020, in Hamilton.

He was the son of Richard W. Jones and Hope Blacklock. He attended Hamilton School system from elementary through high school, graduating in 1956. After two years at

After two years at Tarleton he transferred to the University of Texas and graduated. He was commissioned in the Army.

That same year, 1961, he married Esther Jessen.

After his father’s death, he returned to Hamilton to manage Whites Auto Store and Hamilton T.V. Cable Co. He later established the Jones Appliance Store which he operated until 2001.

He enjoyed living in Hamilton. He was an avid golfer and supported the Perry Country Club. He enjoyed being with friends at the VFW and Cranfills Gap.

Cart had a soft spot for abandoned animals. He had a home for several dogs and cats over the years. Outdoor activities included hunting, fishing, farming, and clearing cedar. Many happy years were spent at the Double J.

Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Esther Jones; and cousins Margo Thiebaud, Nelly Grippe, Jeanann Golightly, Jim Wolfe, Don Simpson and Connie Hutton and their families.
