Boyce Edwards

On Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, Boyce Lee Edwards Sr. left this life to be with the Lord.

Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Live Oak Cemetery. The first of three children, Boyce was born Aug. 31, 1943, in Temple to Lee Otis and Elwanda Edwards. He graduated from Killeen High School in 1961 and married the love of his life, Mary Kathleen (Kathy) Sugg, in 1968.

Shortly after their marriage, he began studies at the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock. After graduating, he helped establish a congregation of the Lord’s body in Nashua, New Hampshire, serving there for 10 years. He then served in Evant for six years before returning to his childhood home in Killeen. Boyce served as a minister at the Killeen church of Christ for 34 years before retiring in 2020. For six of those years, he also served as one of the congregation’s shepherds.

After retiring from full time ministerial work, he moved to his farm near Evant.

Boyce strived each day to be a loving, Christ-like example. As a member of the Park Heights church of Christ, he continued to teach and preach as the need and opportunity was presented. Boyce finished his race on this earth as faithful and active member of the Lord’s body, leading Bible class the morning of his departure.

Boyce is survived by his two sons and their wives, Boyce Lee Jr. and Amber Edwards and John Paul and Amy Edwards; four grandchildren, Hannah, Faith, Joseph Boyce and Lillianna; his sister, Anniece Bane; and brother, Rocky Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Otis and Elwanda Edwards; his wife of 52 years, Kathy; and his granddaughter, Aubrey Anna Edwards.
