Vernon Alvis Eilers, 86, of Seven Points was called to his eternal home by his Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, in Waxahachie.

Services were Dec. 20 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with burial in Edgewood Cemetery, Lancaster.

Alvis was born Feb. 17, 1935 in Hico, Hamilton County, to Adolph Gus Eilers and Lydia Annie Eilers. He grew up in Hamilton County and on March 3, 1955, he married Elsie Lou Thornton at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pottsville. Alvis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. for many years before retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph Gus Eilers and Lydia Annie Eilers; brothers August Eilers and Awall Eilers; and sisters Clara Rasco and Nora Beach.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Elsie Lou; two daughters, Pam Haile of Carrollton and Pat Pierson and husband Howard of Ovilla; four grandchildren, Misty Jeffcoat and husband Jamie, Nichole Haile, Krystle Page and husband Steven and Phillip Pierson and wife Tiffany; five great-grandchildren, Kylan McCoy Scott, Jaymee Jeffcoat, Brianna Haile, Hannah Page and Trey Page; and one great-grandson on the way.

The family has designated memorial contributions to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
