Acy Watson

Acy Leon Watson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 3, 2019.

Acy was born to Willis Thomas Watson and Anabelle Bullington Watson on January 13, 1933 in Hamilton. He attended school in Hamilton and graduated in 1952. He then began work for Sherwin Williams Paint Company in Dallas, TX. Soon after, he was drafted for the Korean War and was stationed at Ft Lewis in Seattle, Washington. He was discharged on September 1, 1954. Acy returned to Hamilton and worked for Alexander Moulding Mill for 17 years. Following in his father’s footsteps, he continued his farming and ranching operation.

He married Patricia “Pat” Williams on December 15, 1956 and proudly joined First United Methodist Church in December of that year. Acy and Pat welcomed their first child, daughter, Valerie on June 5, 1958 and on July 30, 1961, they welcomed their son, Steven.

Acy started Watson’s Ranch & Farm Supply in 1968 with Clifford Conner. After Clifford passed away, Acy took full ownership and changed the name to Watson’s Ranch & Farm Supply, Inc. He always took pride in helping his customers and was kind to everyone he met. Even in his later years, Acy could still be found plowing a field with his favorite tractor, or out driving the dirt roads, checking places and cows with Pat. You can guarantee that the radio station was always tuned to 92.1.

He was a member of the Young Farmers, Kiwanis, Jaycees and was a Lonestar Farmer. Acy also received the Outstanding Agribusiness Award from the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.

Acy was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Thomas and Annabelle Bullington Watson, sisters; Winnie Mae Watson Vann, Helen Watson Howard and Brother; Clyde Willis Watson.

Acy is survived by wife; Patricia “Pat” Williams Watson, children; Valerie Yocham and husband Eddie of Evant, son; Steven Watson and wife Kerri of Hamilton, grandchildren; Adam Watson and wife Dixie, Yale Yocham, Alan Watson and wife Julie, Zane Yocham and wife Argentina and Ashley Watson, great-grandchildren; Jaydon Watson, Abram Watson, Jack Watson, Addison Yocham, Tate Watson, Bella Yocham, Zoe Yocham and Case Yocham.

Pallbearers include Adam Watson, Yale Yocham, Alan Watson, Zane Yocham, Ashley Watson, and Jaydon Watson.

Honorary Pallbearers include Jack Clowdus, Richard Layne, Ed May, Johnny Clepper, Wesley Clepper, Larry Martin and Charlie Bottlinger.

Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Acy Watson to the organization of your choice.
