Billie Beard

Billie Marie Anthony Beard, known to the world as Bunny, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Aug. 15, 2023, in San Antonio.

A memorial service is scheduled for Aug. 26 at the Barn Church Ministries in Hamilton at 2 p.m. preceded by lunch at 12:30.

Bunny was born Feb. 9, 1958, in Laredo, the daughter of Billy Joe and Ada Marie Anthony. She studied Missions at Southern Bible College in Houston, Ministry at Messenger College in Joplin, Missouri, and graduated from Central Texas College with a degree in nursing. Bunny worked most of her life in the ministry as well as a nurse in long-term health care.

Bunny was a very loving and giving individual who would stop what she was doing if someone was in need of prayer or just needed someone to talk to. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her loved ones, especially her children and grandchildren. When Bunny sang, everyone would stop to listen. She wrote and recorded her own music, primarily Christian music. She was an accomplished pianist who loved to entertain. Her Heavenly voice will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her loving father, Billy Joe Anthony Sr., maternal grandparents Tyson Elbert and Eddy Ada (Wuneburger) Hollis, paternal grandparents John Harrison and Flora Lee (James) Anthony, nephew Billy Joe Anthony III and numerous aunts and uncles.

Survivors include sons Blake and Dylan Beard of Luling and Joshua Chestnutt of Waco; daughters Ashley Beard and Katy Benton (Josh) of Stephenville; grandchildren Joziah, Aubriella, Lillyanna, Remington and Avery; her mother Ada Marie (Hollis Anthony) Wagner (Johnny) of Hamilton; brothers Aaron (Cindy) Anthony of Grand Forks, British Columbia, Billy Joe Anthony of Luling, Johnny (Lisa) Wagner of Pottsville and Wayne (Rebecca) Wagner of Belton; sisters Lisa (Kenneth) Brister of Lockhart, Lilly (Curtis) Newman of Oglesby and Martha (James) Lancaster of Hamilton; approximately 150 foster children over the years, aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her best friends Evelyn (Henry) Hanson of Luling and Dewayne Clover of Hamilton; and many lifetime friends.
